Possibilities reading in school: the look of teachers from different disciplines of final grades of elementary school

Abstract

The act of teaching, in the final grades of the basic education, teachers are summoned to deal with specific knowledge of a determined area and also with the way of teaching it as a disciplinary content. In this context, reading comes up as a fundamental ability not only for the conceptual content acquisition and for the different knowledge field procedures, but also for the critical exercise, the expression of ideas, feelings and artistic creation. In a study with five experienced teachers of the final grades basic education, this paper surveys the reading possibilities as an integrator activity of the grade different subjects. Results show that, together – teachers, supervisor and principal –, it is possible to have a school own proposal of reading expansion possibilities, which may turn out a permanent teacher education process that occurs during the school specific periods of studying and planning classes.
